Review: Rimmel London 60 seconds Nail Polish

I LOVE Rimmel nail polish. Always have. Great drugstore brand for nail polish, soo affordable too.

This is a pretty summer shade, Funtime Fushcia. I know it's January, but at this time of the year, I always feel a bit down- Christmas memories seem forever ago and Summer is just too long away! So I like to wear bright colours like this.

It has a great consistency. It's not super gloopy, or too dry, it glides on perfectly.

The best thing about it is that it dries within one minute. I'm such an impatient person when it comes to nail polish. I hate waiting for 15 minutes. I'm also prone to smudging the polish, so the faster it dries, the less I smudge.

The brush is great on this, like all Rimmel nail polishes. It's wide enough to cover the whole nail in one stroke.

Will I repurchse? Of course, it's my fave.

Review: Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash

I generally love Neutrogena products. It's great for young skin. I've just finished using this and I really like it.

This product is supposed to eliminate spots and blackheads. I'm generally lucky enough not to get that many spots anyway, but I really do think it helped to clear up some of my blackheads.

Its a very affordable price too - under £5/€6 . Now the smell-  I wasn't too keen on it at first. It's supposed to be grapefruit, but I'm not really keen on that anyway. I've got used to it though. It doesn't really bother me to be honest. Although I do think it would be good if they could somehow improve it. I looked online, and it seems to be what makes people disagree the most- Some love it, some hate it. Scent is very personal so you really won't know if you like the scent 'til you try it.

It's a nice light formula. I think it would be best for normal/ oily skin.

I'm about to start using the Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2 in 1 wash/mask now, as you can see below, the pink grapefruit one is almost used up.

Will I repurchase? Probably.

Beauty Tip: Bring your nail varnish back to life!

Ok so this always happens to me.. you know when you buy a nail polish that's great for summer? And then autumn arrives and you use darker colours? When spring comes back around, you can't wait to y use that bright nail polish again.. Only it's not 'spreadable' (sounds like butter)! After months of not using it, it has become slightly dried up. Annoying right?

Well this always works for me:
Pour a tiny bit of nail varnish remover into the nail varnish. Replace the lid and shake shake shake!

I did this today when I decided to put on hot pink nail varnish even though it's mid January. Thank God!

Btw, this only works if it's not as 'gloopy' as you need it to be. It obviously doesn't work if it's become an actual rock of nail varnish!

Vaseline: A love that will never end

Okay so everyone has a tin of vaseline somewhere right? I have some in totally random places. Seriously, you wouldn't know where you could find one! But I generally keep one in my handbag, one in my make up bag, one on my desk and one in my school bag. Vaseline is such a multi-tasking product, that I had to do a blog post on it.

Uses:
  1. Moisturise lips. Most obvious use, but it's essential.
  2. Set eyebrows.
  3. Sometimes when I'm not wearing make up, I put vaseline on my eye lids for a glossy sheen.
  4. Again, without make up, I put it on my lashes. It makes them longer when I don't want to wear mascara.
  5. When my skin on my hands is dry in the winter, and it cracks, I put vaseline on the cut if I don't have handcream.
  6. If your zip is stuck, on jeans or boots, it helps to ease it.
  7. Use it on the ends of your hair, if it's very dry.
  8. If you're wearing heels, put vaseline on the areas of your feet that tend to rub, it will stop you from getting blisters. It really works!!
  9. Rub it into your cuticles to make them softer.
  10. Dry elbows or knees? Use Vaseline.
You can get Vaseline in a range of mini tins: one with aloe vera, one with cocoa butter, a tinted vaseline, and of course original.

I can't imagine my life without vaseline haha!

Bourjois Effet 3D lipgloss Review

So, I recently did a haul on this blog, and I mentioned that I bought Bourjois Effet 3D lipgloss. (I'm still not sure if it's shad 06 or 90!) It's a vibrant red colour and I love it!!

Durability: It says that it's supposed to last for 8 hours. I'd say it definitely lasts this long. The glossiness probably lasts until you eat, and after that, it leaves a bit of a sheen, but the pigmentation remains intact. Maybe by hour 6, it starts to fade in the corners of the mouth, so I might reapply. However it's hardly noticable and I would definitely be able to last 8 hours without topping up. I'm really happy with it.

Pigmentation: This gloss is really highly pigmented. It's almost as pigmented as a lipstick. I don't wear lipliner or lipstick under it because it turns out extremely dramatic, just a tad too much for me. It's great on it's own. These photos don't do the colour justice, I just got the lighting wrong I think!

Shine: Well, what can I say except that it's super glossy. :)

Brush: Hmm.. Okay, so you know the way on a lot of glosses, they have that typical lipgloss brush? I cant describe it really, except that its not really a brush, it's kind of a sponge or something? Anyway, on this gloss, there is an actual brush, which is really good for accuracy. However when I put the brush back into the tube, some of the hairs of the brush get slightly caught, which means that a few stick out the next time I take it out of the tube. This can be annoying because the bits that stick out may transfer product outside the lipline. It doesn't happen every time though, and it really wouldn't stop me buying other colours from the range.

Will I repurchase? Definitely!

Rating: 9/10

Please note: This isn't a review on Effet 3D Max. I couldn't find it in my local drugstore!

Get fit for the new year?

So I know I might be a bit late with this blog post, what with it being 10 days into the new year already.. I know most people have probably already broken their resolutions! I usually do anyway. But this year is different. I guess I just didn't intend to have new years resolutions but I just decided a few days ago that it's about time that I got in shape!!!
Actually my father is always telling me that I should keep fit, because it will help me in the long run. I really don't want to have heart problems when I'm older (well, none of us do!) so I've decided I should try to develop some kind of fitness routine....
If anyone who knows me is reading this, they will not believe it. I am the most unsporty person ever. Seriously, ever. I hate sport. Can't catch, can't throw, can't kick. I really do ''throw like a girl''. You should see my aim. And I'm so unfit. Seriously. I'm not overweight or anything really. Just not cut out for exercise!

Anyway, this was a total ramble of a blog... what was I talking about again?
Oh yeah, so I've decided to start running. I started two days ago. I ran for 10 minutes. Straight. Never felt so weak in my life. I actually thought I might die. This is a bad sign!! I'm 17, I should be able to run for that long.. So I'm going to continue with this and see how it goes.. might have given up by the weekend, but hopefully not.
I know that fitness isn't really related to beauty but.. it has health benefits and it can make your skin glow! Get glowing ladies!!
If I can do it, you definitely can!
Do any of you have new years resolutions you'd like to share?

First Beauty Haul & Swatches

This week, I picked up a couple of things in Superdrug. I got some stuff on a 3 for 2 offer! I have a party coming up this weekend, so some of the makeup was needed for that. Others, I just wanted to try and decided to buy them.

First of all, I got red 'colour elixir' lip liner, from Max Factor in shade 10, 'Red Rush', and Bourjois Effet 3D lipgloss. (I'm not sure if it's shade 06 or 90 because I'm not sure which way the digits are facing, but it's bright red!) I had intended to wear these with red lipstick.. however the colour is a little TOO high impact. Although I love the gloss on its own and the lip liner is perfect with red lipstick, without the gloss.

I picked up Barry M Dazzledust. I've never tried it before, but I've heard good reviews about it so I though why not? There was no shade written on the tub, but I'm pretty sure it said 'Gold' in the store.

I bought this Max Factor cream blush, shade 14, 'Soft Pink'. I've only ever tried Maybelline cream blush, and I really liked it. I love the colour of this one though, and it gives a lovely glow!

This lipstick is from Max Factor also. (I love 3 for 2!) It's a pretty rose colour. Actually it's called 'Dusky Rose', shade 830. I've never tried a Max Factor lipstick before either, so I'm eager to find out if I like this.

I love the colour of this Barry M Nail Paint. It's so pretty. I got the 'Lilac Foil' colour nail paint free with the 'raspberry' colour. I'm not very keen on the lilac colour though, but we'll see!

My cousin gave me a voucher for an online store so I decided to spend it on makeup! The first product I got was this MAC Sheertone blush, in 'Breath of Plum'. It seems like a really good colour for autumn/winter.

I also bought Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in the shade ''Fashion Icon''. I've tried other colours of this range before and I've loved them. Definitely one of my favourite lipgloss ranges! This colour will be great for spring/summer. It's a beautiful peachy colour.

Introduction to ''Drops of Pink Rain''

Hey, my name is Ruth. I have a confession to make.. I'm a total product junkie!! I hope to share with you products that I love and loath. I also love clothes, but this blog will be more about cosmetics and general beauty products.
I love to experiment with different products so I will let you know what I think of the results. I'm looking forward to raving about products to people who are actually interested and hearing your opinions too.. My family are getting quite bored of me telling them about beauty products and even my dad kept saying ''Why don't you have a blog?'' I didn't know he even knew what a blog was.
I also have a blog about overcoming bullying, so check that out too :)http://overcomingbullying.blogspot.com

Anyway, talk soon!
